23-03-2022

Jumbo and Albert Heijn have launched plant-based ‘tuna’ salad from Monkeys by the Sea. Our young Dutch company Monkeys by the Sea introduces a plant-based version of the classic homemade tuna salad. The product is filled with chunks of tuna substitute, capers, pickles and vegan mayonnaise. Delicious, easy and completely vegan (V-label certified).

The plant-based ‘tuna’ is made from quinoa, rice, peas and fava beans and is free from soy or palm oil. The salad has a firm structure, which means that it is not only is suitable as a sandwich spread or with a drink, but also as a topping on a meal salad, in a wrap or poke bowl. Monkeys by the Sea specializes in the development of vegan fish from their mission to protect the fragile oceans for the next generations.

To meet the growing international demand for fish alternatives, our team is working from product specialists to a range of successors for e.g. tuna, salmon, shrimp and white fish, in which a combination of vegetarian ingredients from the land and the sea always forms the basis forms. The vegetable ‘tuna’ salad of Monkeys by the Sea is available in various Jumbo from this week stores and all Albert Heijn XL branches available in the refrigerated shelf.
